We Took a 100-Year-Old Product and Reinvented It. Here's Why.
Bottled syrup hasn't changed much in the last century. You've still got a heavy glass or plastic bottle taking up space in your fridge door, a pour spout that drips down the side no matter how careful you are, and a bottle that goes bad or gets tossed half-full because nobody finished it before it lost its edge.
I started Pocket Pours because I kept running into the same problem, both at home and thinking about how coffee shops and offices handle syrup. Bottles are the only way most people have ever bought flavored coffee syrup. That's not because bottles are the best format. It's because nobody had reinvented it yet.
What a stick packet actually solves
Each Pocket Pours packet is dosed for one 16oz cup of coffee. No measuring, no guessing how much vanilla is "a splash," no sticky bottle rings on your counter. You tear it, pour it, done.
That single-serve format solves a few real problems bottles never could:
- No mess. No drips, no sticky caps, no residue building up around a pour spout.
- No waste. You use exactly what you need. A bottle that sits open for months loses flavor and often gets thrown out half-used.
- Portion control built in. Every packet is measured the same way every time, so your coffee tastes consistent whether you're at home or on the road.
- It travels. A packet fits in a bag, a desk drawer, a glovebox. A glass bottle does not.
Why this matters beyond just convenience
Here's a stat that surprised me when I started looking into it: real-world recycling rates for glass and plastic syrup bottles run under 10% in the US. Most of them end up in a landfill regardless of what the label says. Because our packets are so much more space-efficient, it takes more than 30 of them to equal the plastic in a single syrup bottle. Even though the packet film itself isn't recyclable today, the net result is meaningfully less landfill plastic per serving.
Same great flavor, smarter format
We didn't change what goes into the syrup to make this work. Pocket Pours comes in classic flavors like Vanilla Bean, Caramel, Hazelnut, Brown Sugar Cinnamon, and Lavender, plus a sugar-free line for anyone cutting back on sugar without cutting out flavor. Every packet is dairy-free, vegan, plant-based, and made in the USA.
If you've been pouring from the same bottle for years, it might be time to try the format built for how people actually drink coffee now: on the go, at the office, or anywhere a bottle just doesn't make sense.
